It's been a while now since I've received the winnings from the HandK contest. The video ended up being showcased on joblo.com. Even got a great comment from one of the directors of HandK, Jon Hurwitz. Eventually the video would be one of the winners in both phases of the contest. I'm blown away. I made a simple tutorial on metacafe about making a rose out of a napkin. That video has also gone on to make a bit of money. I think about that paper rose video and this Obey The Master video, and I'm blown away by the idea that one can make money by making stuff out of paper, animating a Unicorn's head, and whispering odd quotes about punching a hamster. Cool. Odd, but cool.
I still continue to recieve messages and comments on youtube about the Obey The Master video, all of them talking about how much they love the video. And I am so very flattered. Didn't realize what would take me only one night to make and submit would reap me such great rewards and comments. So, thanks to everyone for their kindness. I'm glad my odd sense of humor paid off for something. And as strange a video as it is, I am quite proud of it.

It's Called Death Bed, The Bed That Eats People.
The title is taken from Patton Oswalt's current comedy CD.

It's hilarious. And I really mean that. No really. You should get you a copy. Click the pic to get your own.

It's actually the first comedy CD I've listened to in a while that isn't Eddie Izzard, and I've been listenting to everything Izzard non-stop for the past 6 months.

Right now Glorious is in the rotation and is probably my fav. However I have noticed that the DVD performance is different from the CD performance. Same act different performances. They each have different little nuances that make them funny, but I think I prefer the DVD performance. It's the way he says "covered in bees." It cracks me up.

If you love Eddie Izzard and Tetris, then you should definitely check out his official site. It's pretty awesome with everything a website should have, plenty of things to waste your time. http://www.eddieizzard.com/home.izz
New ExpoTV video. This time I'm talking about HELL NIGHT on DVD. As you can see by the freeze frame below they are obviously trying their best to make me look like a big doofus. This freeze frame is by far my fav.
The audio seems to be a bit out of synch and the video lets a digital fart at the end. Other than that, another ExpoTV review DONE.
Looks like we're winning again on OUR STAGE. The other trailer is currently in 6th place in the COMEDY category. Check out the nifty banner they now provide to help promote ya. Feel free to click and vote for us.

And as you can see below, it is, once again, The Paper Rose video. I'm pimping it out again seeing as it's reaching enough views to pay out more money. I've already been able to pay some bills with this video. God bless making money through online video. So watch it a whole bunch a times will ya. And tell your friends.

As far as the production front. Many many projects in the works. Many are work related. And a few career related. But always for fun. Still pimpin the Monster Cops. Still gearing up for that next feature. Much more later.

The Goodbye Girl
Sometimes it's good to be reminded of things. I think that's what makes forgetting such a precious necessity. You experience something incredible only to be reminded of it's greatness later in life. Such is the case with Neil Simon.
I mean really how can one forget the incredible work of Neil Simon. But when you go through life's roller coaster and experience more and more, it's easy to forget almost anything that isn't constantly around you. Tonight, my wife watched The Goodbye Girl for the first time. And for me it was like the first time as well. I'd only seen it twice before and it had been a long time. Upon watching the movie, I started to beat myself up for forgetting how good this movie is and how great Neil Simon is. But then I realized just how much fun I was having remembering and reliving all these great things. Great writing by Neil Simon. Great direction by Herbert Ross. Marsha Mason was charming and that little girl was hilarious. It's funny, it's witty, it's charming, it's smart, it's Richard Dreyfuss at his best, and possibly one of the greatest romantic comedies of all time.
And I needed it. I needed to be reminded of that spark, that light, that charisma. I needed to be reminded that life isn't just a roller coaster of emotion, ups and downs, but ins and outs, lefts and rights, brilliance and even more brilliance. The power of writing and performance and the power of the movies. I needed to be reminded of that as a writer, and I was. Now I just need to let the rest of me know.
Well it's for sure now that I need to reacquaint myself with the works of Neil Simon. I'll start with more movies. Biloxi Blues and Lost In Yonkers for sure. And I have a need to watch one of my favorite Dreyfuss/Detective movies, The Big Fix.
I now have for you my continuing education in origami, in video form of course.
The paper rose in color.

And the talking sheet of paper. Which isn't being received too well. I think it's because I unleash my craziness a little too much on this one. Go figure.

The Paper
I don't really believe in resolutions, but I guess the closest thing to a resolution for me for this year you would be to learn to make more things out of paper.
I've always loved Origami and paper crafts. I like the idea of making something out of next to nothing. Ya think paper and you think about how weak and easy to tear it is. So taking something like paper and making something substantial out of it really intrigues me. Everything from paper cranes to pop up books, I've always had a fascination with paper art and paper engineering.
Here are a few videos I made on how to create the 3 main things I usually end up making when I have napkins or a sheet of paper.

I've got a Video Blog coming up on the creation of my pop up press kit for THE MIDNIGHT SPECIAL.
