my dear watson

if only I was as confident as the words I wanted to tell you.

I've criticisized others for not having my power, as so many others fear being in the spotlight, I revel in it, I thrive in it. but when it came to you I didn't have  the strength  to say what I wanted.

I was too busy being in orbit around you.
maybe one day I'll tell you those words or perhaps one day I'll find the one who will compel me to say those words to her.

patrick'sguide to learning how to sing again after suffering brain damage

i suffered a stroke which left me paralyzed on my left side. it gave me damage on the right side of my brain which also affected my ability to sing. which I used to do well before, now II realize that it doesn't come so easy. so these are the steps I'm taking to helpretrain my brain. to sing again.

1.  listen to familiar songs often especially songs that I kused to know cold and knew I could sing well.
2. if necessary start with just listening first

3. move on to  singing in your head.

4. don't beat yourself up if you try to sing and you're off key or if you continue to stumble.

5. try lip syncing first work on just mouthing te words and feeling the music. get your brain remembering how you use to do it.

6. start with one song first.. just concentrate on one song.  listen to it constantly, let it play in the background, play it while you sleep.

7. hum the song and work on staying on key before moving on to actually trying to sing.
8. once you feel more comfortable and confident try singing for real along with the song,

9. once you feel successful in singing that song try these steps with other songs til you feel like you've got your vocal legs back.

Texas killing fields movie review

https://m.imdb.com/title/tt1389127/?ref_=fn_al_tt_0

Not a horror movie, very much your basic police drama. Based on the stretch of land on I45 between Houston and Galveston where over 50 corpses of young women have been found since 1972.  The original script was written by one of the homicide detectives who worked many of those murder cases. The screenplay was too weak for such a strong cast, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Jessica chastain, Chloe Grace Moretz,  what results is a very weak movie that does no justice to the real life victims found in those fields. Many of those cases remain unsolved, instead this movie takes minor details of the real life detectives and places them in a fictionalized murder case that equals a mediocre tv movie.  The stories of the killing fields deserves so much better than this mediocre throwaway. It's on Netflix in case you'd like to completely ignore it.

from what i understand the original script was written by one of the detectives that this movie was based on the then was scrapped for this piece of crap screenplay written by dean Ferrarone

Next level escape chapter 3: magic box method

One of the keys to moving escape games to a public settings is by building and utilizing escape boxes. I had a company where we designed many of these escape boxes we called it magic box

Escape boxes are boxes that are locked and that contain the puzzles and tasks that the players will need to solve and you can design these boxes to fit your storyline if you're dealing with a pirate theme your boxes can look like treasure chests maybe you're running a spy game in which case you can simply utilize briefcases with combination locks in many cases you can purchase already ready made boxes or you can create them your self as long as you have a way to attach a lock to them inside each of the boxes can be a puzzle or task maybe there is a riddle or some form of puzzle box that needs to be solved in order to get the combination to the next box. Label your boxes with your company name or the name of the game that is being played i have run public scape games at conventions and public areas like restaurants coffee houses and malls in which case you'll definitely want to notify security about what you're doing so no one thinks you're just leaving suspicious packages every where. A traditional in create boxes inside of boxes i won't take a wooden box with a latch and lock it with a combination lock i will design the box in accordance to the theme of the game and whenever the box is open players will find another box inside but they must also unlock and inside that box is traditionally they will find the clue they need or the puzzle they need to solve, the reason for this is to make it a little more difficult for the general public or passer byers who may want to play from seeing exactly what is inside. I like to create garish and theatrical a spectacle looking boxes to make it clear to the general public that a game is being played and it helps when they see the brand or the logo of the game that is being played.

Next level escape games Chapter 2 no more rooms

Escape games tell a story storytelling in general is a wonderful way to enhance the game traditional escape rooms usually make designers try to conjure up scenarios and stories that require the use of an isolated room by removing the room you can open up your storylines to almost anything you no longer have to just escape out of something especially since many escape rooms are moving away from escaping the room and just accomplishing a task if your mission is to find a treasure or play detective wouldn't that be better suited out in the open?

Next level escape: chapter one. what is an escape room

An escape room is a physical adventure game in which players are locked in a room and have to use elements of the room to solve a series of puzzles and escape within a set time limit.

Normally there is a host who guides you through the game. This is the Game Master. He or She will give you the rules. Maybe some helpful hints. And they may start you off with a riddle or a clue. In this game, let’s say we tell you something like “Find The White Rabbit.”

As soon as you enter the room you see alot of oddites, curious things, possible clues. Here you see question marks in picture frames lining the walls. Some big, some small. There’s a table with wine bottles. You see book cases, a safe, 2 safes, 3 safes actually.

You see the clock in the corner. It’s ready to countdown from 60 minutes.

You have that much time to find all the clues, solve all the riddles, and escape the room.

We tell you: You have 60 minutes. Search the room. “Find The White Rabbit.”

Your time starts now.

You and your team scatter. You immediately look everything over. Look through things, through books, under tables. You notice locks. Alot of them. If you’re good at this you should be calling things out as you see them. I see several question marks on the wall. 3  number combination lock safes. I see a cabinet with a ley pad lock, 1 4 digit combo lock in the corner, here’s a treasure chest that has a key lock, etc.

You observe everything, what’s locked and not locked, what can be opened, what you see. You search with your eyes and your hands. Feel across the top of door frames, check behind picture frames, count things, how many picture frames are there, how many bottles are on the table, is there anything inside the bottles that you can see?

You check the dresser in the corner. You open each drawer. All of them empty. Except the bottom one. Inside you find it. It’s a card with a white rabbit on it. On the back of it you see two sets of numbers. One’s a 4 digit, the other is a 3 digit.

Check the room for locks. You try the 4 digits on all the visible 4 digit locks. None of them work. But the 3 digit numbers do work.

They open a lock on a wooden box in the corner that one of your teammates has found. Inside is a deck of cards. You count the cards in the deck.

Step 1: Pay Attention.
Listen to what the Game Master is telling you. If there is a Game Master. Listen to the rules. Pay attention to any first clues they may tell you. We put you in this room to play the game and we want you to get started right.

We’ll normally give you a starting point or a clue. We may say something like. “Look for the white rabbit.”

Step 2: Search Thoroughly and Collect Data
Check sides, tops, underneath, in between cracks. If there are picture frames or books on shelves that can be moved, look them over, look behind them, look through them. As your searching make note of the specifics. What is locked? What isn’t? How is it locked? Do you see cabinets with key locks. Means you may need to find keys. Do you see combination locks? Do they use words, numbers, symbols? If you find a 4 digit combination lock then you’re on the lookout for 4 numbers somewhere in the room or numbers that may be revealed to you in a puzzle.

Step 3: Communicate Out loud
Report to your team outloud. I found a 4 digit combination lock! I see key locks! I see a 5 letter combination lock! This puts it out to your team what to look for as they are also searching and collecting data. You say 4 digit combo lock, that may click at that moment or later in the game with someone else when they find 4 numbers somewhere or solve it from a puzzle. If it looks like a clue, or something out of the ordinary, say it outloud.

PRO TIP: DON’T WASTE TIME
We see it all the time. Instead of looking and solving, some folks like to pick one lock and just try combinations. They burn time hoping they’ll get lucky trying to open a lock. And you might get lucky and open a lock that way. But it may not help you. It might actually hinder you. Understand that an escape room tells a story. We put elements in place that follow a specific path. You solve one puzzle that leads you to the next and the next and so on. If you happen to open a lock out of turn it may reveal a puzzle or clue that won’t make sense because you skipped a few steps in the game. It confuses things and makes you frustrated because now you have this new info you don’t know what to do with and you end up wasting time.

Also, it is a game, but we’re also trying to take you on a journey. Take you on a fun ride. I remember designing this really awesome puzzle that everyone really enjoyed solving. One team skipped right over it because they got lucky opening a lock. They jump the game, wasted time doing so, and totally missed that awesome puzzle. They missed out on the fun. They also lost.

Step 4:  STAY ORGANIZED
You wanna search thoroughly. You wanna tear the room apart searching. But organization helps. If you’re tearing through a bookcase full of books. Keep those books organized, making a stack as you search through them. You find papers, place them in order, and someplace accessible. Don’t throw a bunch of books on them. You start making a mess, next thing you know you totally lose those papers  you may need to reference for a puzzle later in the game. You can easily lose a clue or forget about something because it gets lost somewhere.

Red wood one

this of course has not been the easiest journey for me but it wasn't supposed to be, i have definitely been brought to a place to see things in a new perspective and consider ideas and perspectives i would not have otherwise been willing to accept i know this journey is not done with me yet but once it is i hope to be a better person a stronger person not just someone who's rehabilitation but someone who has improved beyond what they were before one of the things that i understand truly now is to not use my skills and talent to hide behind guarding myself from my pain and to deal with my emotional pain head on.if main must be used as fuel then so be it but it's always best to choose more positive and efficient types of fuel from my creativity and passion.

what you need to become a detective is love.

what you need to become a detective is love.
Because through love comes calm, and through calm comes thought. And you need thought to detect stuff sometimes. It's kinda all you need. You don't even need a gun. And you definitely don't need hate. Hate never solved nothing, but calm did. And thought did.

Three billboards outside ebbing, Missouri

The art of assigning emotions

We are constantly bombarded by information it is up to one to understand how to perceive and utilize that information powerful is the one who can manage emotions separate from data. Not sure why but I felt the need to share that.

Problem solving is an art

I had spent the past few years trying to understand the art of problem solving a real necessity when you're working in the escape room industry. When i first started working at in escape room i quickly understood the connection between my skill set and the escape room industry immediately realized how well-suited i was for this industry how was initially hired as a game master just to host the games but then i started designing my own games and i got into the signing the puzzles my background in theater in prop designs special effects design and magic and illusion was something i knew that i could apply to escape room design with great success this is how i can surely and get up opening my own company and with magic box i was hired to design and build whole rooms and entire game play as well as specific props utilizing everything i knew about magic and illusion engineering as well as prop  creation. I started to understand problem solving on a completely different level that's what happens when you not only solve problems over and over but also when you have to design problems for other people to solve in my current predicament every day since waking up from my coma dealing with being half paralyzed has been about daily problem solving something that i understand to me to be a very particular skill set but i feel like i have excelled at. I thought to myself . How somewhat perfect this particular disability that i have is for me especially understanding problem solving and how the greatest of setbacks can only make you stronger i realize that that's what all this is about going through this journey has been particularly inspiring on so many levels and has really pushed my education of problem-solving and creation to another level something that i realize is necessary for me to really reach this higher level i've been trying to achieve for a few years now i actually thought the other day while i was trying to understand how best to accomplished something simple which is what i do everyday since walking isn't as easy as it was before and simple things like reaching across the table to grab something is more difficult because you don't realize that although i have my right side functioning properly it only takes my one good arm and hand to grab something but if something is pretty clearly further away i run the risk of toppling over in my chair as my balance is not quite the same when it's just half your body that's functioning you don't think about how your body automatically corrects your positioning if your body senses you're off balance leaning toward your right your left leg may stretch out to give you more leverage and it does it automatically but when you don't have that functionyou begin to realize how easy it is for you to topple over if you are not careful. For someone with normal function if there's something you need  that's across the room you can just get up walk over there grab it and walk back that's not so easy when any part of you is paralyzed so it becomes about figuring out what you can do with what you have got solving problem with what you have. Again a skill set that i feel that i have excelled at . I actually thought to myself about other people who have had my same experience being half paralyzed and i actually thought how do those people make it without being me as i begin to see how i actually have the perfect set of experiences and skill sets to deal with this particular supposed disability.from that perspective all this journey is as a way to strengthen me to get to that higher level i've been aiming at.the negatives are there was that hold me almost dying that which i don't recommend to everyone but i'm not dead i'm very much alive and i know i will not be paralyzed forever i will continue to work and improve and once i get back to full function i will have a brand new stronger perspective to help propel me to my greater goals.

Everything is a teacher

Sometimes you win,
Sometimes you learn

Every difficulty is an opportunity in disguise.

The things that annoy you are saving your brain.

The  sense of confusion you feel as you workout a problem like the chaotic brain just before you reach the answer of a riddle much like the annoyance of that pet peeves or the person you disagree with that slight push out of your  comfort zone is your brain creating neurons and developing new wiring.

Your body rebuilds itself from a blueprint based on a program.

That program is created from your beliefs and emotions so make sure you're feeling good and your intentions are positive.

Warner brothers has no plan. If only DC was in better hands.

I wish dc was in better hands gone are the days of christopher reeves and richard donner michael keaton and tim burton superman the movie was iconic and they really inspired the superhero cinema craze and it was pushed forth keeping momentum going with tim burton's vision of batman these are movies that led the way for superheroes in the past dc and warner brothers was a dynamite combination but in the past few years Warner brothers has  really stumbled marvel of course is the gold standard now executing not just good comic book movies but great movies overall, warner brothers had a nice run with christopher nolan's version of batman it was exciting and well executed but this seemed to be the start of where warner brothers did not understand where to go next honestly Nolan's vision was so unique that it almost left no room to expand upon a bigger universe they made a great choice in casting henry cavill and introducing a new superman in man of steel but i guess that version of superman couldn't fit in nolan's version of gotham city meanwhile marvel finally found their stride after so many attempts at trying to get just one good marvel movie going they were waiting for that one movie to be such a huge head that it would spark a fire and ignite the birth of a proper marvel studios that finally happened with iron man well here we are marvel studios is on top and it's very sad to see the dc extended universe stumbling i just recently watched aquaman and i loved it it was done so well it was fun and adventurous and paid proper tribute to not only the comic book but the cartoons as well it made me kind of sad aquaman was a really great movie wonder woman was a really great movie i really enjoyed man of steel that also was a really great movie but now there's nothing to look forward to with dc i know the wonder woman sequel is coming and it looks very exciting but there is no bigger picture to look forward to they already blew their wad on a justice league movie if only they hadn't been in such a rush to get justice league out and just waited.almost feels like warner brothers was so desperate to separate themselves from marvel they totally ignored what should have been done, put out your individual superhero movies make them amazing and then build up towards justice league i know warner brothers probably doesn't want to hear this but marvel really did it correctly that's why everyone has gone crazy for the avengers but let's face it justice league is the pinnacle of all superhero team ups when we think of superhero teams justice league is IT, superman batman wonder woman, green lantern, if only they had gotten the proper treatment in the same way marvel studios has done there are so many people clamoring for zack snyder's cut of justice league but i don't think we're going to get exactly what we want with that i'm almost certain you're going to end up with exactly the justice league movie we got not totally sure what warner brothers is going to do now that they need to find a new superman and batman would have said they should just move forward towards making a really great justice league sequel since many of us had invested time with henry cavill and ben affleck but sadly warner brothers could not keep it together and now they have to recast two of their biggest icons. My best advice for warner brothers is to quit thinking about what marvel is doing and just do your best to be respectful of DC's material and concentrate on making good heartfelt movies batman vs superman was a neat idea but it was obvious they're just trying to rush to get everybody geared up for justice league they ended up making a movie that most of us love to make fun of i don't think it would be a good idea to recast batman and superman and have them introduced in a new justice league movie i think maybe there should be a new superman movie and the new batman movie that introduces us properly to these two new faces make sure they're both really great films and then do the justice league sequel in treat it almost like a rebirth for the justice league and give us the movie we all deserve. I can already tell they are currently making more mistakes by putting out this joker movie with martin scorsese it genuinely feels like they don't know what to do so they're just doing anything.
