Red wood one

this of course has not been the easiest journey for me but it wasn't supposed to be, i have definitely been brought to a place to see things in a new perspective and consider ideas and perspectives i would not have otherwise been willing to accept i know this journey is not done with me yet but once it is i hope to be a better person a stronger person not just someone who's rehabilitation but someone who has improved beyond what they were before one of the things that i understand truly now is to not use my skills and talent to hide behind guarding myself from my pain and to deal with my emotional pain head on.if main must be used as fuel then so be it but it's always best to choose more positive and efficient types of fuel from my creativity and passion.

what you need to become a detective is love.

what you need to become a detective is love.
Because through love comes calm, and through calm comes thought. And you need thought to detect stuff sometimes. It's kinda all you need. You don't even need a gun. And you definitely don't need hate. Hate never solved nothing, but calm did. And thought did.

The art of assigning emotions

We are constantly bombarded by information it is up to one to understand how to perceive and utilize that information powerful is the one who can manage emotions separate from data. Not sure why but I felt the need to share that.

Problem solving is an art

I had spent the past few years trying to understand the art of problem solving a real necessity when you're working in the escape room industry. When i first started working at in escape room i quickly understood the connection between my skill set and the escape room industry immediately realized how well-suited i was for this industry how was initially hired as a game master just to host the games but then i started designing my own games and i got into the signing the puzzles my background in theater in prop designs special effects design and magic and illusion was something i knew that i could apply to escape room design with great success this is how i can surely and get up opening my own company and with magic box i was hired to design and build whole rooms and entire game play as well as specific props utilizing everything i knew about magic and illusion engineering as well as prop  creation. I started to understand problem solving on a completely different level that's what happens when you not only solve problems over and over but also when you have to design problems for other people to solve in my current predicament every day since waking up from my coma dealing with being half paralyzed has been about daily problem solving something that i understand to me to be a very particular skill set but i feel like i have excelled at. I thought to myself . How somewhat perfect this particular disability that i have is for me especially understanding problem solving and how the greatest of setbacks can only make you stronger i realize that that's what all this is about going through this journey has been particularly inspiring on so many levels and has really pushed my education of problem-solving and creation to another level something that i realize is necessary for me to really reach this higher level i've been trying to achieve for a few years now i actually thought the other day while i was trying to understand how best to accomplished something simple which is what i do everyday since walking isn't as easy as it was before and simple things like reaching across the table to grab something is more difficult because you don't realize that although i have my right side functioning properly it only takes my one good arm and hand to grab something but if something is pretty clearly further away i run the risk of toppling over in my chair as my balance is not quite the same when it's just half your body that's functioning you don't think about how your body automatically corrects your positioning if your body senses you're off balance leaning toward your right your left leg may stretch out to give you more leverage and it does it automatically but when you don't have that functionyou begin to realize how easy it is for you to topple over if you are not careful. For someone with normal function if there's something you need  that's across the room you can just get up walk over there grab it and walk back that's not so easy when any part of you is paralyzed so it becomes about figuring out what you can do with what you have got solving problem with what you have. Again a skill set that i feel that i have excelled at . I actually thought to myself about other people who have had my same experience being half paralyzed and i actually thought how do those people make it without being me as i begin to see how i actually have the perfect set of experiences and skill sets to deal with this particular supposed disability.from that perspective all this journey is as a way to strengthen me to get to that higher level i've been aiming at.the negatives are there was that hold me almost dying that which i don't recommend to everyone but i'm not dead i'm very much alive and i know i will not be paralyzed forever i will continue to work and improve and once i get back to full function i will have a brand new stronger perspective to help propel me to my greater goals.

Everything is a teacher

Sometimes you win,
Sometimes you learn

Every difficulty is an opportunity in disguise.

The things that annoy you are saving your brain.

The  sense of confusion you feel as you workout a problem like the chaotic brain just before you reach the answer of a riddle much like the annoyance of that pet peeves or the person you disagree with that slight push out of your  comfort zone is your brain creating neurons and developing new wiring.

Your body rebuilds itself from a blueprint based on a program.

That program is created from your beliefs and emotions so make sure you're feeling good and your intentions are positive.

post stroke recovery update

physical therapy with my therapist still happens every sunday morning and wednesday evening that mainly consists of stimulating massage and stretching my left side in order to continually make sure those joints still maintain flexibility as far as diet i do make sure i take multivitaminsi keep up with consuming omega-3 fish oils vitamin c and serpentina before every meal my therapist always suggest that when bathing i always try to use hot water everytime i do babe i wonder if there's anything specific about the water here that may be attributed to my healing in general i do believe that environment is important for anybody is healthy well being the people you interact with the air you breathe the water that you bathe with and the water that may be used that you consume weather by drinking it or through the foods that are cooked with it no real drastic improvements i still maintain self therapy working on repetitions of squats to get my left leg tube and trying to get that function back so i can then that left me and point downward with my left foot which i'm not able to do yet but if repetition is a key then i am confident that i will get there i feel like repetition has been hoping in increased strength in my left arm i am able to extend it a little better day by day not fully to the point where i can extend it easily like i can with my right arm and left fingers not really able to grasp yet still working on opening and closing them closing them seems easier to do along with whistling my left arm i suppose any progress is good progress trying to maintain a healthy social media environment and overall a healthy internet diet most likely going to be clearing out my facebook friends list i already do a pretty good job of only following the things that interest me or please me or feed my mental health properly on facebook twitter and instagram i do believe that you become what you think of often so you need to maintain a healthy diet a what you feed your brain thanks to youtube i do play healing frequencies and healing music most nights when i go to sleep not sure if it's doing anything but staying hopeful because of it can only help.

Warner brothers has no plan. If only DC was in better hands.

I wish dc was in better hands gone are the days of christopher reeves and richard donner michael keaton and tim burton superman the movie was iconic and they really inspired the superhero cinema craze and it was pushed forth keeping momentum going with tim burton's vision of batman these are movies that led the way for superheroes in the past dc and warner brothers was a dynamite combination but in the past few years Warner brothers has  really stumbled marvel of course is the gold standard now executing not just good comic book movies but great movies overall, warner brothers had a nice run with christopher nolan's version of batman it was exciting and well executed but this seemed to be the start of where warner brothers did not understand where to go next honestly Nolan's vision was so unique that it almost left no room to expand upon a bigger universe they made a great choice in casting henry cavill and introducing a new superman in man of steel but i guess that version of superman couldn't fit in nolan's version of gotham city meanwhile marvel finally found their stride after so many attempts at trying to get just one good marvel movie going they were waiting for that one movie to be such a huge head that it would spark a fire and ignite the birth of a proper marvel studios that finally happened with iron man well here we are marvel studios is on top and it's very sad to see the dc extended universe stumbling i just recently watched aquaman and i loved it it was done so well it was fun and adventurous and paid proper tribute to not only the comic book but the cartoons as well it made me kind of sad aquaman was a really great movie wonder woman was a really great movie i really enjoyed man of steel that also was a really great movie but now there's nothing to look forward to with dc i know the wonder woman sequel is coming and it looks very exciting but there is no bigger picture to look forward to they already blew their wad on a justice league movie if only they hadn't been in such a rush to get justice league out and just waited.almost feels like warner brothers was so desperate to separate themselves from marvel they totally ignored what should have been done, put out your individual superhero movies make them amazing and then build up towards justice league i know warner brothers probably doesn't want to hear this but marvel really did it correctly that's why everyone has gone crazy for the avengers but let's face it justice league is the pinnacle of all superhero team ups when we think of superhero teams justice league is IT, superman batman wonder woman, green lantern, if only they had gotten the proper treatment in the same way marvel studios has done there are so many people clamoring for zack snyder's cut of justice league but i don't think we're going to get exactly what we want with that i'm almost certain you're going to end up with exactly the justice league movie we got not totally sure what warner brothers is going to do now that they need to find a new superman and batman would have said they should just move forward towards making a really great justice league sequel since many of us had invested time with henry cavill and ben affleck but sadly warner brothers could not keep it together and now they have to recast two of their biggest icons. My best advice for warner brothers is to quit thinking about what marvel is doing and just do your best to be respectful of DC's material and concentrate on making good heartfelt movies batman vs superman was a neat idea but it was obvious they're just trying to rush to get everybody geared up for justice league they ended up making a movie that most of us love to make fun of i don't think it would be a good idea to recast batman and superman and have them introduced in a new justice league movie i think maybe there should be a new superman movie and the new batman movie that introduces us properly to these two new faces make sure they're both really great films and then do the justice league sequel in treat it almost like a rebirth for the justice league and give us the movie we all deserve. I can already tell they are currently making more mistakes by putting out this joker movie with martin scorsese it genuinely feels like they don't know what to do so they're just doing anything.

Not quite there yet.

making progress but my paralysis hasn't magically gone away. I still need assistance doing things but I am working on it. I am confident  I can recover but I'm being clear about this because I fear some may have made assumptions about my state. I was asked by a few folks if I could do a few things for them. Things I used to be able to do. As much as I would love to say that i'm  back to full function I am not there YET I WILL BE.

Cho KU rei, chi and Earth energy. And other ways I plan on escaping paralysis.

I've decided to use this blog as a way to document not only what i've been going for you as someone who suffered a stroke and his currently paralyzed on the left side but my continue journey through therapy and what i am doing to to h heal myself and get back to full function

First of all i'm currently in the philippines at my mother's house i came here because i know one of the things that i needed in order to get back to full function was physical therapy and there are self therapy exercises that i do all the time but i am new i also need it a physical therapist to help me do certain things i can do on my own and i needed their expertise also and currently i'm here in the philippines because physical therapy is really expensive back in the united states but i can be close to my mom and this house which has so many memories of my father i'm reminded of him every day sometimes i can feel his spirit which by itself is healing just the change in an environment from texas to the philippines is also healing in being there my mom is healing. I continue to do myself therapy exercises which is be utilizing my strong right side to assist my left side to move specific muscles and limbs to help your mind my brain remember how these limbs i supposed to function i'm grateful that i still have full function of my right hand and right arm and right leg i use my right hand to bend and move my left fingers and left hand the more repetitions i can get in the more i can keep those muscles functioning and continue to remind my brain how the left side is supposed to function the more i do this the more i see improvement my fingers my phone starting to move my physical therapist comes the house and give me treatment every sunday and wednesday in in between those visits i do my self therapy. I am a writer and creator and i have not stopped working on the project that i know i can that means continuing to write screenplays plan future productions and read books that i plan on publishing soon i have a lot of content in my brain and thankfully i'm able to access the technology that i need to write to write novels to blog to put the stories down and get them ready to get out into the world along this journey i'm also learning about so many different things i've decided to take advantage of learning platforms like udemy and mindvalley. I've been taking courses on reiki healing meditation neurolinguistics and life coaching i spend a lot of my time doing self therapy or learning new things by taking online courses reading a lot of books and i keep up with my other passions as well i do continued to write screenplays and i continue to practice magic tricks and sleight of hand with my strong right hand i'm also learning about other healing techniques reiki healing has really opened my eyes and a lot of the philosophy of it is something of i believe for awhile but i understand how better to utilize this knowledge to heal myself i've also practiced grounding or earthing in in the past and although it's difficult for me to walk right now ways to ground myself toto assist with my years of reiki healing and harnessing chi energy combined combined with the therapy imI getting. I am seeking results i'm also utilizing christie marie sheldon technique for removing mental blocks to continue to maintain a positive running program in my head being positive is key in my journey two do away with this paralysis i will continue to blog my progress with the intention of compiling my experiences into a book sm mentioned grounding before grounding requires you to walk barefoot with no shoes or socks on the bare ground so so that you have constant contact with the earth and it's energies virtual ground the frequencies your body and help you heal and live a better life being paralyzed on my left side walking is still an issue although i have been improving i've been trying to find ways to ground myself regardless although i'm not able to go outside on my own and walking without shoes is still something i'm learning i am trying it i am doing small things the groundthe ground myself like walking around the house and my room without shoes although it is a tiled floor it it is getting my feet used to walking on the ground without shoes which i think will help with the physical therapy and it's a little bit closer to the ground then walking around with shoes on adding this to my routine of chi energy and reiki and positive programming i'll see how i i progress overover the next few days and weeks.

Reset button

I have to acknowledge that my stroke was a blessing. I was working too much on projects and for people I didn't want to and I was operating from a negative place holding on to very limiting beliefs. I actually had a lot of emotional pain that i was trying to bury by taking on more and more work witch really was not healthy at all. Now i just want to get full function back and not be paralyzed anymore so i can enjoy being fully functioning and utilize my previous balance again.

Post stroke update

Been in philippines now since the end of july 2018 here is a video of me walking in front of my parents house this was shot just this past weekend been working with a physical therapist since i got here between now and doing my own therapy exercises i'd like to think we've made some progress getting getting my  left side functioning again working on getting my left leg stronger i'm hoping at this rate in a few more months i'll be walking normally at the same time i hope to get full function back of my left arm and left hand and fingers i really miss playing the piano.

Stroke of luck

Life update. In November 25th2017 I had a stroke. I was in a coma for one week. I woke up on December 4th 2018. They had to do emergency brain surgery I woke up from my coma with Staples in my head and I was paralyzed on my left side.

It is a  year later.  And I'm currently in the Philippines at my parents house in das marinas in Cavite city.
I'm getting the physical therapy I need here to help me get back on my feet it would have been too expensive in the u.s. even with my health insurance. I'm working on  getting function back in my leg and left arm and left hand. I desperately need to ger back to doing all the things I use to do. Magic tricks and  playing piano. I work on therapy exercises while also learning new things thanks to online classes on udemy and master class. I'm also writing books I plan on publishing soon.i will return to Texas new and improved.my left leg is getting stronger and me and my physical therapist have been working on my walking which seems to be improving.thankfully  my right side is strong to help support and aid in making my left side move to help me improve.  I now continue to make strides toward my comeback from this aetback.

I Fucking Love The Movies

It has to be said. I mean I know it's obvious, but I'm really feeling it right now.

I love movies.

I love writing movies, making movies. I find utter fascination in the behind the scenes of every movie. I love the look at the Special FX, Interviews with Actors about there process, insights from Producers and Directors.

I love the details of distribution and marketing. The creativity and drive it takes to get the word out about a movie. The lengths people will go to. From the big bucks the Studios are willing to shell out to the creative wonder of a William Castle production.

Which of course borders into my love of the exhibition of movies. I love DVD, Redbox, Netflix. I love movie theaters, outdoor screenings. I love this resurgence of Drive In Movie Theaters. I love the many different ways you can experience a movie now. In your home or out and about with the public. I love it all.

Right now I'm flipping channels. TCM is always running something that pays tribute to those classic movies. And I love how so many channels are playing so many different movies. I'm literally surrounded by movies.

Mix this in with the fact that I'm coming to the end of finally wrapping up my own movie REDD, I'm really really feeling it.

Now more than ever is an amazing time to be both a movie maker and a movie lover and I'm so happy to be in the middle of it all.

Toy Story (The Walking Dead Version)

There was a meme going around about how The Walking Dead and Toy Story were actually quite similar. This got my brain working and I threw this together.
